ADDITIONAL FAQs

Q: My POWERViZion System has stopped recording and shows that disk space is low. What should I do?
A: This problem means that your database files are being recorded onto the C: Drive instead of one of the Data Drives. To fix this problem do the following:

• Click on CONFIGURE, choose SYSTEM LOG SETTINGS and then Click on SET LOCATION. Change the location to one of the DATA Drives.
• Another possible cause for the error is corrupted database files.  If you suspect this is the case, you should exit the main system application and execute the "Repair Database Utility" to repair the database so the recording may resume normally.

Q: I am missing some Events & Days in the ViewLog, but I see them in the DATA drive. What should I do?
A: Run the "Repair Database Utility."

Q: I'm getting a Question Mark (?) in ViewLog. What does this mean?
A: In the event list, when the question mark (?) appears, it suggests that the recorded data you wish to view does not exist in the database. This problem may occur when the Recycle Option was in effect and has recycled the video file for view.

• In order to remove the question mark, as well as rebuild the database, please exit the main system and execute "Repair Database Utility."

Q: What ports are used by POWERViZion servers and software? I need this information to configure my router.
A: Webcam: HTTP = 80, 81; Command = 4550; Data = 5550; Audio = 6550.

Q: Why does my Webcam MPEG4 player show "can't connect to server"?
A: There are a couple of possible explanations for this problem. FIrst, it is possible that the Default firewall ports were disabled (e.g. 4550, 5550). The other possibility is that the Server ports (4550, 5550) are being used by another application. Make sure that the Default firewall ports are not disabled or being used by another application.

Q: I'm getting a Password error that says "can't login." What can I do?
A: First, try creating a new user & password. If that doesn’t work do the following:
Exit out of the POWERViZion application and remove the EMBED Package and then re-create the desired user ID and passwords. You find this in the local Disk C: Drive in the "GV" folder.

Q: Web Server is set to run on Startup but when the system is manually rebooted or automatically rebooted, the Web Server does NOT start. What should I do?
A: The problem seems to be with the webserver.exe in version 8.00. Upgrading to version 8.02 resolves the problem.

Q: What is the best option for locking DVR PC Access?
A: Use the Key Lock Utility

To Start the Key Lock Utility
Select Key Lock Utility from the Start Menu
Click on the "Settings" icon
Login with Supervisor ID and Password
Click on "Desktop Type"
Select "Multicam"

To Turn Off Key Lock
Click on the "Settings" icon
Login with Supervisor ID and Password
Click on "Desktop Type"
Select "Windows"
Exit Multicam
Click on the "Log Off" button
Login with Supervisor ID and Password
Click on your Windows Username

Q: I can't control my PTZ from the DVR. What should I do?
A: Make sure you are using address 1 under the camera addressing (Example: PTZ Camera set to address 1, set the POWERViZion address to 0).

Q: The Multicam software keeps shutting down and re-starting. Sometimes it only exits, other times it re-starts Windows. I have other channels that I am not using with Video Lost. What is the solution?
A: Check to see if you are getting a "Video Lost" error message. Check all your camera connections.
Manually stop the monitoring (recording), stop the network servers, then go to the System Configurations button and click on "Camera/Audio Install" option. Click on the "Activate" button and you will notice a dropdown of all the available camera channels. Uncheck cameras you're not using.

Q: There is a long delay accessing Video/Audio log. What should I do?
A: The system has stored many video cache files; restart Windows. You should have the system auto reboot at least once every week. This can be setup in Auto reboot under "Configure."

Q: How do I activate the composite output so that I can have two displays?
A: Click Start, control panel, display, settings, advanced, displays, troubleshoot & Click "Force My Detection of TV."

Q: I'm getting a pink screen on my TV when using both outputs (VGA & Composite). What is causing this?
A: Disable "De-interlace Render" in the "System Configure" and restart the Multicam.

Q: I can control my PTZ from the DVR but not through the Internet. What should I do?
A: Make sure you configure the Camera Mapping PTZ Dome settings under "Configure."

Q: The video in playback is really small. How can I make it bigger?
1. Zoom in by clicking on the Zoom tool (A "plus" sign above a "minus" sign). The more you zoom the more pixilated the video will become.
2. You can also change the video resolution to a larger size. Remember, however, that increasing the resolution will take up additional hard drive space.

Q: The Time & Date is wrong in the Multicam system. How do I fix this?
A: Exit out of the multicam and change the time and date in Windows, and then restart the multicam.

Q: I'm unable to play audio in the ViewLog. What might be wrong?
1. The video you selected may not have any audio records.
2. The speaker icon in the lower right corner is not enabled
3. Audio can only can be played back at 1X speed.

Q: If I log out of the Multicam system will the system still record?
A: Yes.

Q: I have two DVRs on the same network. How can I access them both through the internet?
A: Under "Webcam" in "Server Setup," change the HTTP port to 81 on one of the DVRs. Port forward 81 to the external IP Address of the DVR that you change to 81.

Q: I can only play back video in 1X speed. What's the problem?
A: Click on "Settings" in the Viewlog. Make sure "Real Time" is checked under Advance Playback Method

Q: The Video Events are showing in 5 minute increments. Is there a way to make the video events longer?
A: No, the max is 5 minutes; the minimum is 1 minute.

Q: What settings provide the very best video quality available? (i.e. compression, resolution, etc.)
A: The best quality is Mpeg4 (Fast Mpeg4). H264 takes up less space but is lower quality; it is, however, a good setting for Webcam Server on slow internet connections.
